Truly Bizarre Organ Hiding In A Whale’s Mouth
The mouth of a whale which can grow up to 66 feet is probably the last place that you would expect a previously unnoticed organ to be hiding in. But surprisingly, an organ which has not been described in the mouth of a bowhead whale (Balaena mysticetus) before has recently been noticed by an anatomist in Alaska. The organ is rod shaped, twelve feet long, four inches wide, and is truly bizarre due to the fact that it is biomechanically similar to a mammal's penis! The organ, which has been dubbed the Corpus Cavernosum Maxillaris, likely helps the whales to eat and also cool down. Are you intrigued yet? Please click the link below to read more about the bizarre twelve foot organ which somehow went unnoticed in the mouths of bowhead whales until now!

Isn't the bowhead whale the whale with the most oil in it's head too? If so, I wonder if there is a link to that also.
